SEOmoz Expert Seminar Review, Networking

Wow am I tired! I just spent three nights in Seattle Washington for the second ever SEOmoz seminar. Rand Fishkin, founder of SEOmoz, put on another great seminar. It was a phenomenal learning experience and a perfect opportunity to touch base with industry leaders, friends and business associates.

I was particularly excited this year because Chris Baggot, co-founder and visionary of Exact Target and Compendium Blogware, decided to join me for the trip. My company, Slingshot SEO, currently provides consulting services to Chris Baggot’s blog company so it was important to introduce him to some people from my network including my mentor and good friend, Matt Franklin of eCommerce Optimization and and head of R&D for Visible.net.

I ran into Lauren Meihe again from infoscour and he was nice enough to buy us a couple rounds at a local pub. Lauren is a local Seattle, WA search engine marketing expert and a rather cool guy. Some other cool people that I had a chance to meet were Monica Wright of HMG Search Marketing, Menno Flikkema of firstfocus, Duncan Morris of distilled, Dana Lookadoo of Pixel Position and Jane Copland of SEOmoz.

I met other interesting individuals as well. I’ll have to do a bit more research and dig through my business cards before I give credit to all the other great people I met as I don’t want to misspell anyone’s company or name. You simply can’t beat the SEOmoz seminars for a personal, tight-nit group style networking event.

Some of the topics that were covered in this year’s SEOmoz expert seminar were…

  • Reputation Management
  • Social Media
  • Link Building
  • Black Hat SEO Tactics
  • Semantic Search
  • Legal Topics in the SEO Industry
  • Cloaking
  • Google Webmaster Central in Detail
  • and a host of other great stuff
